Whether your flowers come from a wedding, memorial, anniversary, graduation, or another meaningful occasion, preserving them is a beautiful way to transform fleeting blooms into lasting artwork. If you're considering flower preservation, here is everything you need to know before getting started.

Step 1: Reach Out Before Your Event (If Possible)

The best time to book your flower preservation is before your event takes place. Wedding dates and preservation spots can fill quickly, and booking in advance ensures that space is reserved for your flowers.

Don't worry if your event has already happened, you can still inquire. However, the sooner you reach out, the better.

Step 2: Fill Out the Contact Form

When you're ready, submit an inquiry through the contact form on my website with any details you have available. Helpful information includes:

  • The date of your event and City you're in.

  • The type of occasion (wedding, memorial, celebration, home garden, etc.).

  • Photos of the flowers, if possible.

  • The types of blooms included (if known)

  • Where are your flowers from/who designed them? (we love giving credit to florists for their beautiful work!)

  • Whether you are interested in pressed artwork (flat frame) or three-dimensional preservation (shadow box).

  • The size and number of pieces you would like. (Example: two 8x10's and one 5x7 shadow box in white frames)

  • Can you drop-off (to my Niagara Falls location), or do you require us to pick-up (Travel fee will apply for this option)

It's completely okay if you don't have all of the answers yet. we can discuss the details together!

Step 3: Keep Your Flowers Hydrated

After your event, place your flowers back into fresh water as soon as possible. Keep them in a cool space away from direct sunlight, heat, and drafts.

Every hour counts when it comes to preserving colour and shape, so proper care in those first few days makes a significant difference. The fresher your flowers look when we receive them, the better they will look when preserved!

Step 4: Secure Your Booking

Once we've discussed your vision and confirmed the details of your commission, you'll receive an electronic contract and invoice. To reserve your preservation date, a signed agreement and retainer fee (30-50%) is required.

Everything can be completed online, making the process simple and convenient. Flower processing will not take place until this step is complete.

Step 5: Get Your Flowers to Me Within 1–3 Days (pretty please)

For the highest-quality results, flowers should ideally arrive within one to three days after your event.

Fresh blooms preserve more beautifully, allowing me to retain as much of their natural colour, texture, and dimension as possible. While some flowers can still be preserved after this timeframe, the condition of the blooms will influence the final artwork.

If you are travelling or coming from outside the Niagara region, please mention this in your inquiry so we can discuss the best plan. I currently only accept local bookings and do not ship out finished artwork...maybe one day!

Step 6: The Preservation Process Begins

Flower preservation is a labour of love that requires time and patience. Depending on the flowers and style you've selected, the preservation process itself can take anywhere from seven to thirty days.

From there, your piece is carefully designed, assembled, and finished by hand.

Most commissions are completed within approximately 8-10 weeks, although some may be finished sooner, while others require additional time to ensure the highest quality result.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Finished Piece for Years to Come

When your artwork is complete, you'll receive a one-of-a-kind keepsake designed to honour a meaningful moment in your life. Whether displayed in your home or gifted to someone special, preserved flowers offer a beautiful way to hold onto memories long after the blooms have faded.
